Why wipes keep catching in the same drain

A displaced joint, roots or heavy scale can provide the first catch point. Removing the wipes clears the immediate blockage but leaves the underlying ledge or obstruction.

What the blockage itself can tell you

If a contractor removes a dense bundle of wipes from one measured point, ask whether there was anything at that location for them to catch on. Sometimes the wipes themselves are the whole problem. In other cases, once they are removed, the camera reveals roots or a stepped joint that gave them somewhere to catch.

If the cleaned pipe is smooth and clear, changing what goes down the toilet may be all that is needed. If the camera finds a permanent catch point at the same place, that defect explains why the blockage keeps returning.
